The snout is made with extra thick rubber in a rough pattern, which makes it possible to walk up muddy slopes if you have got off the bike. The midfoot is reinforced with a rubber layer that goes slightly up the foot, to protect against wear from the crank. The rest of the sole is made of extra coarse material so that the shoe cover does not get damaged when you walk on it.
