— захисна характеристика, яка передбачає миттєве (не більше 0,1 с, по електромагнітному розчеплювачу) відключення при перевищенні номінального струму до 20 раз і спрацьовування «запасного» теплового розчеплювача при перевищенні в 10 разів; у другому варіанті час спрацьовування становить близько 0,4 с. Такі автомати має сенс ставити в мережі і сегменти мереж, що обслуговують переважно індукційне навантаження з високими пусковими струмами — насамперед електродвигуни та агрегати на їх основі (пральні машини, насоси, верстати тощо), а також низьковольтні трансформатори. Інший варіант застосування – «підстраховка» одним автоматом великої мережі цілком (наприклад, в багатоповерховій будівлі), на той випадок, якщо не спрацюють вимикачі в окремих сегментах такої мережі.
